FIELD TEST FRIDAY: LITE TRAVELERS BUS BUILD
by Ventureborn
For this weeks FTF we catch up with Ian Lundborg and Emily Theisen from Lite Travelers to check in with them as they convert a 2003 Chevy bus into their new what will be their full time home on the road.
A couple years back, the Minnesota based creative duo were feeling stuck in the daily grind of work life and decided to take the leap of faith and picked up a 2004 Econoline van, sold everything they didn't need, packed up and moved out of their apartment and took to the road.
The pair headed straight to the West Coast, learning, living and getting acclimated to van life. During the winter months they spent their time in the desert states avoiding the cold and chasing sunshine.
After all of the traveling, they knew for certain that they loved life on the road and were hooked. They also realized that if they wanted to continue that lifestyle they would need to upgrade to a larger living space.
Enter their 2003 Chevy 3500 Mid Bus.
Without being picky, they kept an open mind when shopping new rigs. They knew they needed something they could stand up in. After a bunch of research and shopping around, they felt confident the Mid Bus was the right choice for them.
They quickly sold their Ford van to a couple had envisioned living the "van life" like Ian and Emily and finalized the purchase of the Mid Bus. Ian says, "We had good vibes about the people that bought our van and know they will love life on the road."
Let the work begin.
IIan and Emily planted some very temporary roots in Brainerd, MN to jump into the remodel of their new "home" before hitting the highway once again.
Summer plans include working and saving up travel money, Ian is working at a cabinetry shop and Emily at a local Minnesota retail store and of course, spending countless hours converting the Mid Bus to what will be their home on wheels.
Ian says, "this time around we plan on making the bus our mobile studio. We are both artists, photographers and graphic designers. We love any and all art forms and working with our hands. With having a mobile studio, we are excited to travel and create all over the US and hopefully inspire others to do the same."
Ian and Emily are definitely an inspiration to all. We are beyond excited to see how the bus turns out and watch their dreams of a mobile art studio come true. Thanks so much for taking the time out with us and thanks for taking Ventureborn on all of your adventure travels.
